It All Starts Here!

On behalf of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and the Society for Sedimentary Geology (SEPM), we are excited to invite you to the 2023 International Meeting for Applied Geoscience and Energy (IMAGE) at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, from 28 August to 1 September to celebrate our third year of scientific excellence and collaboration at the premier meeting for energy professionals. Where else would you want to spend a week in summer than with your favorite colleagues, industry leaders, and friends? IMAGE '23 will have something for everyone and you won’t want to miss it.

IMAGE’22 showcased an excellent success in its first year in Houston which saw an attendance of over 5,900 and 82 countries represented. The IMAGE ’23 Steering Committee looks forward to building on the 2022 success with much anticipated attendance and exhibitor growth as well as impressive increased interest in participation within the technical program.

Thanks to our Oversight and Steering Committee volunteers, authors and reviewers from around the world, and the generosity of our corporate sponsors, this year’s technical program received over 2,176 abstract submissions covering a wide range of foundational and emerging geology and geophysics topics, including cutting-edge interdisciplinary research on machine learning and new energy frontiers. Joining this robust technical program will be the Exhibition Hall Pavilions which will showcase new technology and developments in digital transformation, near-surface engineering and geophysics, carbon management and global energy trends. We also look forward to welcoming over 250 companies and vendors to the Exhibition Hall floor and over 24 countries to the Global Pavilion.

Over the past year, global economies have recovered to pre-pandemic levels resulting in elevated energy demand growth not seen in years. This has opened the door for the industry to realize new investment in energy, see more oil and gas exploration and production, and advance new technologies across all sectors.

IMAGE ’23 will showcase these new and exciting advances in activity through the technical program, panels, and the Exhibition Hall. IMAGE '23’s strategic panel program will highlight the value of partnerships across all sectors, providing insights and discussing challenges in investment, diversity and inclusion, business development, energy diversification, education, data management, and ESG. The meeting will also host a variety of social and networking events, luncheons, receptions, and artwork. We look forward to having you discover and discuss our industry’s breakout research, innovative science, and new business opportunities. Houston has more than just hot weather; this summer, it will be burning with the hottest topics in energy.
